ISARM2021 Conference – Transboundary Aquifers: Challenges and the way forward
There are 286 transboundary river and lake basins and 592 transboundary aquifer systems in the world. Furthermore, 153 countries share transboundary water systems; out of those, 148 share at least one aquifer with one or more neighbouring state. Transboundary waters account for 60% of the world’s freshwater flows and over 40% of the world’s population relies on them for their secure and stable livelihoods. This makes cooperation between countries essential. To discuss this and other issues related to transboundary aquifers, join UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP) Second International Conference ISARM2021 – Transboundary Aquifers : Challenges and the Way Forward.More than 200 speakers will present and around 1,000 participants will attend the event from all around the world. |
